Elisabeth Otter-Knoll Foundation

The Elisabeth Otter-Knoll Foundation (EOKS) is a general residential care centre based in Buitenveldert, Amsterdam which also serves the surrounding districts. It has 60 intramural and 72 extramural residents.

The intramural accommodation no longer meets modern requirements and the foundation therefore asked Van den Berg Adviseurs to carry out a feasibility study into rebuilding or new build of the accommodation. The study concluded that rebuilding was not an option due to the limitations of the existing building, and for this reason new build was recommended. Van den Berg Adviseurs was then commissioned to supervise this new build process. As an independent project and process manager, Van den Berg Adviseurs has taken responsibility for the design, including the construction and electrical and water systems, out of the hands of the Elisabeth Otter-Knoll Foundation. In addition, Van den Berg Adviseurs is supervising the entire spatial planning process in close collaboration with the Amsterdam municipal authorities.
